I don’t think all cops are assholes
I’ve met some genuinely nice ones who are honestly concerned with protecting and serving—Nic was the best man in a cop’s wedding, and that guy (while having a serious Napoleon complex) is a sweetheart.
However I think the profession also attracts a lot of people on the opposite side of the spectrum. It draws loyal, dutiful people who want to make the world safer and help people, and then it draws power-hungry egotistical maniacs who get off on carrying around a gun and being “in charge.”
Cops make me uncomfortable because I never know which one I’m going to get. And I’m white. I know it’s got to be a hundred times worse feeling for anyone who isn’t.
